Description

At a party, Dr Joseph Brenner is reacquainted with Emma, a woman from his youth. Having taught abroad at Royal Music Conservatory in Madrid they know many of the same people but have somehow only just run into each other. Emma is making preparations to move back to their hometown in New York. She wants to abandon her adjunct position to be a full time writer and stand up. He's a composer. Before they reunited, he had heard she was a poet or painter he can't remember which. Honestly, she was always eccentric, he always viewed her as more as a social butterfly he could never pin down. Almost mythical in nature she's been a fantasy, a dream, and at times an afterthought. But her laugh, he never forgot. Sublime, musical: a collection of notes his own mind couldn't conjure. And now he has seen her, and he finds out something is wrong, her odd behavior becomes alarming. He senses she needs him desperately. Although, she won't yet admit it.
